Twenty 20

http://www.hindu.com/2007/11/25/stories/2007112560630800.htm

Have a look at this article from The Hindu. I was shocked. Plans are up for 20 new engineering colleges in the state. The saddening fact is that around three-fourths of colleges in the state lack proper infrastructure.

The government merely wants to open up centres where degrees are sold at the rate of 1.6 lacs for 4 years. I hail from a similar place.

The IITs in the country make sure that their students fly overseas to earn 7-10 lacs every year when a student from a private college keeps running pillar to post for a job. No one is really worried about the countrys' progress. It is a clear indication that the IITs are mere brands like the Mercedes to be sold out to a foreign organization.

Still people keep conducting debates about the contribution of the IITs towards building a strong nation. I am shocked....

Try talking to an IITian when you get a chance to go their festivals. It reveals that they aren't really bothered whats going on outside!

Reason: They remain locked up in a fully residential hi-fi insti for 4 year. Score something in the name of the CGPA. Enjoy all the infrastructure and fly out to work with Schlumberger for a salary of 2 lacs per month.

Ask an IIT grad... He says we are being paid for being an intellect! So aren't ? What went wrong with us? Am I forbidden?
I read a news item that the goverment wants to make IITians work in the country. Is this possible?

Why do these IITs and NITs create a drama in the name of finishing schools for the country? The security guard doesn't even allow one to enter the campus!

Hail the human resources policy of the country.

Break the rules

I am facing my exams till Dec 4 and I did not have the opportunity to meet my friends for quite a long time and I desperately wanted to meet my friend yesterday. It was nearly 9 by the time I started returning home. There is a new flyover city in my city where the traffic was being allowed in only one direction. Usually, the policeman restricts the direction in which I went. It was pitch drak and I noticed a two wheeler ride beyond the policeman. He was talking with someone over the phone and I was not able to recognise his face in the darkness. He just waved his hand to go. I decided to react. and.........

Shit! My vehicle turned off........ I thought it went dry....

Alas! it started! I came back home safely......

The thief in police

Today I faced my first theory exam of the seventh semester. It sucked. I was not really happy about my performance. I decided to go out with my dad( A so called relaxation!). I happen to notice two policemen, hiding behind a telephone booth. It was absurd. They were peeping over the road.
I turned towards the direction they looked at. I was shocked to notice that they were hiding themselves from a lady inspector in order to avoid getting caught red handed, seeing them smoking.

It is really a shame to the state police to avoid performing their duties promptly.

Too hot to handle

I went to a fast food restaurant yesterday. I ate for 25 rupees and gave him fifty bucks. He just threw those fifty bucks over the hot pan of cutlets, shouting for a change. He asked me to give another 5 rupees so that he could tender a round change. The other guy never took the 50 bucks note from the pan until I gave the coin from my pocket.
I reacted. I was shocked to see him take three more notes from the pan and he gave me the one of those hot notes!

The ten rupee note was too hot to handle.

Uncomfortable sunday

My mom is not feeling well today and hence I had to go get some vathal kulombu. I happen to go to a branch of the chain of restaurants belonging to the hotelier who is considered to be the kingmaker of the industry. Since the restaurant was situated near my home, I went to the place in my shorts. (Of course! Covered upto my knees). Alas! Since, the cooks had not returned from their diwali holidays, the parcel-in-charge guy was not ready to get me what I desired.
The dishwas being served to those only who buy a meals pack and no extra items were being served. I decided to go to the other branch of the same hotel which is very near by, located in the centre of the city. I got the same reply. I was shocked. I thought it was due to the Uppu Jowli rush in coimbatore. If you happen to be in Coimbatore, you would have known it. Its a unique traditional practice followed before a marriage where both the bridegroom and bride's relations, go for shopping. Hence the restaurants get flooded on such auspicious days.
I decided to go to the biggest branch of the same guy. I got a negative reply. I decided to switch over my brand now. There was one nearby. The parcel-in-charge of the hotel asked me to go to the previous place where I came from!!!!

Diwali vacations aren't over in Coimbatore. This Sunday noon passed away by mere travel through the city. It took me damn 30 minutes!!!!

In the intermediate. I went to a petrol bunk where the lady spilled fuel over me! She was in a row with her co-workers!!!!! I think this another idiot's way to waste liquid gold! You would be aware of what I did in the past or else go through this post.

The uncomfortable factor this sunday had was me going to the city in my shorts. People looked at me like an insect.

I am not sure whether I was horrible or my city is still being a conservative society who hate westernisation!!!!

Festival of lights

This diwali rocked. Though I wanted to celebrate an eco-friendly one, I was not able to make others to so. Hence I need to write how others spent theirs.
You could notice a blank pic, above. Kindly zoom into it. Its actually a golden sparkles!
The second pink color thing, just flew over my head. The third pic was a long shot of the farthest parts of the city. The best thing I happen to capture is the pink shots over the sky. The final pic shows the pollution levels of my city.
Though the pics are a bit shaken since they were night shots and you need a tripod to avoid them. Diwali was really cool this year except for the noise and smoke.
But the benefit is that there would be no mosquitoes for at least another day.

The plight of the Indian bank

Today I happen to visit the Indian bank near my home for personal reasons.... I saw 4 express counters for cash payments below 20K. I was shocked to observe more tham 50 people standing before the 4 counters where the queue was moving at snail's pace.... It took me 30 minutes through the express counter to make the cash payment. I thought that festival crowd would have made all this mess..

When I reached a stage where only 2 more turns were left for mine, I noticed that the cashier in the adjoining one was arguing with a lady that her photo affixed in the passbook was taken while her husband was alive. Since she is a widow(usually women do not sport bindis, if the husband is dead), he is not able to identify her and threatening her to change the photograph before she makes the next visit.

My turn was still worser. The cashier was talking with someone over the mobile phone. He wasn't worried about my payment. He kept asking about my job, career and all that stuff!

Eventually, I made the payment and I had to pass the challan to get my cash drafted. The assistant asked me to come later since the person was not available at the seat...

I had to budge.....

Do you believe customer is a king in our natinalised banks?

I don't.....

Language labs--

I had to write a paper called Communication skills as part of my lab exams this semester. It went well today. I was asked to talk about my surname "Yamanoor" for 5 minutes!

I was quite shocked!! Then I came to learn that the people inside just wanted to contradict whenever I tried opening my mouth........

The sadenning fact is that I never wished the external examiner and turned my back.

This semester consists of 4 lab papers and 6 theory papers.

The holy seventh battle begins!
